Where to Watch Sunset in Valencia: 8 of the Best, Unforgettable Sunset Viewpoints in Valencia, Spain

Valencia does sunsets exceptionally well. And, it’s not trying to be dramatic about it, the light just sort of lands right wherever you are in the city. Whether you’re by the beach, up on a rooftop or out by the lake, there’s a wonderful moment where everything slows down a bit at golden hour.

These were the spots we ended up at – some planned, some accidental – and they all delivered in their own way. Keep reading to discover seven free spots to catch golden hour and sunset in Valencia, and one paid location.

Best rooftop for sunset in Valencia

Novotel Valencia Levant – my go-to rooftop spot (Free to enter/just pay for drinks and food)
The SkyBar at Novotel Valencia Levant caught me off guard. It’s not in the old town, but the rooftop terrace is well polished and vibrant. No fuss, none of the crowds of some other rooftop bars in the city.

Above: One of my favourite shots of sunset in Valencia. I call this one ‘giant leaf eating a plane’ and I took it on the rooftop at Novotel Lavant Valencia.

Just a quiet spot with a phenomenal view over the city and a bit of space to unwind while the sky does its thing. We went up with a beer after a long day and it was perfect. We got incredible views for miles, watched planes take off in the distance, and were drenched in the golden glow of the sun as it set.

Location 👇 Just when you think Valencia can’t get any hotter… they open this. 😍 Welcome to the Sky Bar at Novotel Valencia Lavant – a rooftop haven on the edge of Turia with 360° views, sleek pool vibes, and a cocktail menu that slaps. It’s brand new, it’s bougie without trying too hard, and it *might* just be the sexiest spot in the city right now. So, if you’re thinking “what to do in Valencia?” right now, take this as a sign! 📍 Novotel Valencia Lavant, Valencia. Add it to your Valencia list. Trust me. #creatorsearchinsights

Best beach for sunset in Valencia

Malvarrosa Beach – no-frills, all the colour (Free)
You don’t usually come to La Malvarrosa Beach for peace and quiet – this beach is busy and full of energy. But it’s huge, so grab a patch of sand and chill as the sun does its thing. As golden hour hits, the sky opens up, the light stretches forever, and everything turns gold for a few minutes.

Kids still playing, groups of friends chatting, music somewhere in the distance. It’s not curated. It’s just real – and the view is unreal. If you prefer less sand and more bougie vibes, then you can also opt to spend a sunset at Mercabanyal (also free, just pay for your drinks and food), a unique venue right on the beach front that has various food and drink stalls with beautiful views over Cabanyal. Take a walk from Ruzafa and meet the beach as it’s turning golden at sunset.

Most unique place for sunset in Valencia

Albufera Natural Park – probably the best of the lot (Free for boardwalk, ~€5 for a boat)
If you’re only going to do one, make it Albufera Natural Park. You hop on a wooden boat just before sunset and drift out into the lagoon. It’s quiet out there, barely any sound except the hum of the motor. Then the sun slowly drops and the whole sky reflects on the water like glass. No noise, no rush. Just that stillness that’s hard to find anywhere. Feels like everything stops for a minute. The park is easily accessible from the city by public transport, and you can book on to a boat when you’re there. Just bring cash!

@irishtraveladdict

Top of the list of things to do in Valencia. Golden hour hits different at Albufera Natural Park. Valencia really is home of the beautiful sunset 🤩 If you’re going to Valencia soon, be sure to add this to your list ✍️ 📍 Albufera National Park, @Visit Comunitat Valenciana , @visitSpain 🤳 @Google Pixel 9 Pro #valencia #albufera #sunsetvibes #beautifulsunset #beautifulsunsets #sunsettok #spaintravel #europevacay #travelinspo #hiddenparadise #natureescape #travelmore #sunsetmagic #bucketlistspots #thingstodoinvalencia #valenciatiktok #vlc #valenciano #valència #valencia🇪🇸 #creatorsearchinsights BEAUTIFUL SUNSET | BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS | BEAUTIFUL SUNSET IN VALENCIA

Best rooftop outside the city for sunset in Valencia

Terraza del YOU & CO. – simple, quiet, right by the sea (Free, just the cost of your drinks/food)
This one’s a small terrace above YOU & CO. Saler Beach Boutique hotel near Saler Beach. Doesn’t sound like much, but the view is something else. We didn’t plan to come here. On our way back from Albufera Natural Park we looked up and noticed a few twinkling lights on the rooftop of this hotel. We thought, “Why not spend the remainder of golden hour on a rooftop instead of a bus?”, and hopped off. We ended up nursing a drink and watching the sky for nearly an hour. It’s easy, unfussy, and feels very local.

@irishtraveladdict

Will never get tired of sunsets like this. 😍 We took a bus to Albufera National Park last night and decided to hop off in El Saler on the way home. Glad we did. Found a cute rooftop bar and soaked up the final rays of the day in style. @visitSpain does it again 🫶 So glad I caught this on my @Google Pixel No one will notice if I just stay in Valencia forever, right? 😂 #visitvalencia #teampixel #valenciasunset #sunsets #spainsunset #sunsetview #rooftopvalencia #goldenhour #sunsettok #pinksky #valenciaspain #visitspain #valenciano #vlc #valència #valenciaespaña #valenciaspain #valenciaspain🇪🇸 #valenciaspain🇪🇸🦋 #valenciaespaña🇪🇦 #verano

Best free places for sunset in Valencia

Turia Park – not an obvious choice, but kind of perfect (Free)
I wasn’t expecting Turia Park to be a good sunset spot as usually, I’d be expecting to go higher when seeking a sunset, not lower. We were just walking through the park near the Palau de la Música and suddenly the light shifted. The fountains, the palms, the long paths – everything lit up. It’s not a big viewpoint or a dramatic scene, but it catches the light in a way that feels very Valencia. Loads of locals around, some music floating from somewhere, and that soft end-of-day glow. Perfection.

Jardins del Real – perfect photoshoot stop (Free)

Sunset in Valencia at Jardins de Real

Another epic spot that I wasn’t expecting to shine so bright can be found at Jardins del Real. We were walking home from the beach and took the ‘scenic route’ through the parks a few Thursdays ago. Out of nowhere the sky burned a fierce orange and the park glowed underneath it. It was incredibly peaceful walking through the park at this moment. The orange soon turned pink, and the silhouette of the palm trees swaying in the wind made for some fantastic photos.

Best bougie rooftop for sunset in Ciutat Vella, Valencia

Atenea Sky Bar – rooftops, drinks, sunset glow (€10 to visit, plus drinks/food)
If you’re in the mood for something a bit more lively, Atenea is solid. It’s up above the old town, with rooftops stacked in every direction and the sky turning all shades of pink and purple. It can be quite packed at golden hour. Bit of a crowd, bit of a buzz, but the view’s worth it. Grab a drink, get a table (if you can), and you’re sorted. It’s a nice way to end the day if you want a bit of atmosphere. They have a DJ and flamenco dancing to entertain guests – but if you know me, you know I was only there for the views!

    1. You can just turn up for most of these. Atenea does allow booking for over 6 people, but it is also quite packed so recommend going early to grab your spot – otherwise the other spots are brilliant for a sunset view (and free!)
