Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh Hotel Review: Everything You Need to Know Before You Book

First Impressions of Four Points by Sheraton Edinburg

I visited Edinburgh at the beginning of November 2025 for two packed days of meetings, networking, and general social overload. You know that feeling when your brain’s buzzing and all you want is a decent bed and a quiet night? That was me. I picked Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh mainly for location – I needed somewhere central, close to my meeting venue, but calm, easy to get to from the airport, and reliable for a good night’s sleep. And, it delivered on all of that.

Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh is a business hotel in Edinburgh that does what it says on the tin. Clean, modern, comfortable, and completely stress-free. The hotel isn’t pretentious, and there’s no trying too hard. What the Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh offers is a solid base for work trips or quick city stays.

Where Is Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh?

Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh is situated on Haymarket Terrace, in the city’s West End. If you’re coming in from the airport, the tram drops you right at Haymarket Station, which is only a few minutes’ walk away. You can be checked in and unpacked before your coffee has gone cold.

It’s a great part of the city – busy enough to feel connected, but not rammed with tour groups. You’ve got local cafés, bakeries, and bars around, plus the main tram and bus routes to get you pretty much anywhere.

After checking in to the hotel after a long first day, I ubered over to Henderson’s, a veggie spot nearby, for dinner and a long-overdue catch-up with a dear pal. After a generous helping of vegetarian haggis, and wine, I also managed to polish off half of a chocolate mousse as we talked for hours – exactly what I needed after a day of meetings. The staff were friendly, not overbearing, and gave us a table way longer than we expected. One for your list!

If you’re here for work, the location’s spot on. The Edinburgh International Conference Centre and Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa are close, and so is Princes Street if you fancy a wander between sessions.

What Are the Rooms Like at Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh?

I got upgraded to a king room, which meant a huge bed and a bit more floor space – always a win. The design’s clean and unfussy, more business-minimalist, practical than flashy. I had a view of the car park, but honestly, I didn’t care. I was only in the room to sleep and get ready for another day of work.

The bed was properly comfortable – not too soft, not too firm – and the blackout curtains worked a treat. I got a decent sleep, which says a lot because I’m usually a light sleeper in hotels. I did hear my neighbours making a racket in the wee hours, but I blame them for being incredibly loud rather than the hotel walls and doors.

There’s air con and heating, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee, bottled water, an iron, plenty of hangers, and all the usual bathroom bits – shampoo, conditioner, shower gel. Everything worked, and I didn’t need to go asking for stuff that was missing.

Lighting could be a touch brighter if you’re trying to work late, but overall, the space felt right. There were plenty of lamps, which is great for setting a mood, but perhaps one or two brighter lamps would work a treat. It’s not trying to be boutique or design-forward – it’s just tidy, comfortable, and functional.

Breakfast and Dining at Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh

Breakfast started around 7AM which was perfect timing before heading back into conference mode. The hotel was having some technical issues when I stayed, so the cooked options were limited, but the continental spread covered all the essentials – pastries, yoghurt, fruit, toast, cereals, and decent coffee.

Was the breakfast Instagram-worthy? No, not after I got involved in the preparation anyway. Did it do the job? Absolutely. I left full and ready for another long day.

The bar and restaurant area doubles up nicely as a quiet workspace later in the morning. I grabbed an americano there before heading out and ended up getting through a few emails in peace.

There’s also an evening menu with simple international dishes – fine if you don’t fancy heading out, but with Haymarket’s pubs and restaurants nearby, I preferred to explore.

Facilities and Amenities at Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh

Let’s be real here – Four Poiunts by Sheraton Edinburgh isn’t a resort. You won’t find a rooftop pool or spa here, but it’s not that kind of hotel. What you do get are the basics done well.

There’s no in-house gym, but the hotel offers access to a local gym about ten minutes away, which is a thoughtful touch. The Wi-Fi worked without a single hiccup (a miracle for a business trip). There’s also laundry service, a bar, a restaurant, and a small business area near reception if you need to get a bit of admin done.

The shared spaces – lobby, lounge, breakfast area – are clean, modern, and surprisingly calm. During the day, you’ll see people tapping away on laptops or heading out to meetings. By evening, it’s quiet enough to unwind with a drink.

Service and Overall Atmosphere at Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh

The staff were great. Friendly without being over the top. They checked me in fast, sorted the upgrade without me even asking, and gave solid local recommendations.

The vibe of the hotel leans professional but relaxed. You’ll mostly see solo travellers, small work groups, and the odd couple on a short city break. It’s not trying to be trendy or social – it’s here to give you a comfortable base and let you get on with your trip.

It felt calm at night, which I really appreciated. After back-to-back meetings, I wanted quiet, not chatter from the bar. The Four Points nailed that balance.

Sustainability at Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh

You can tell the hotel’s trying to be greener, even if it’s not shouting about it. The bins have split compartments for recycling. Toiletries are in big refillable pumps, which is great. Other elements like energy-efficient lighting and modern heating controls suggest they’re heading in the right direction too.

Pros and Cons for Staying at Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh

Pros

  • Brilliant location near Haymarket Station and tram links
  • Super comfy bed and proper blackout curtains
  • Friendly, efficient staff who actually seem to enjoy their jobs
  • Solid breakfast spread even when things weren’t running perfectly
  • Access to a nearby gym if you want to work out

Cons – (and this is just me being picky)

  • Some rooms (like mine) overlook the car park – if a good view matters to you
  • Lighting could be better for working late in room
  • No on-site gym or spa (as above, they do offer a complimentary pass for a nearby gym)
  • Breakfast hot food wasn’t available during my stay (as above, the rest of it was perfect)

Prices, Booking Tips and Who It Suits

I paid just over £100 a night, which felt fair for midweek in October in central Edinburgh. You’ll see rates between £90 and £180, depending on season and events. During the Edinburgh Fringe Festival or big matches at Murrayfield, prices climb fast – so book early if you’re visiting in August or on a weekend.

If booking, make sure to check out Marriott Bonvoy, which usually gets you better rates and points.

Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh is ideal for:

  • Business travellers who value peace and good transport links
  • Solo guests who want a straightforward, no-fuss base
  • Couples on short city breaks who prefer comfort over design flair

If you’re travelling with kids or staying longer, you might find the standard rooms a bit tight.

Getting around couldn’t be easier – trams and buses right outside, or a 25-minute taxi to the airport.

My Verdict

After two long work days, I checked out feeling surprisingly refreshed. The Four Points by Sheraton Edinburgh isn’t flashy, but it’s dependable, comfortable, and perfectly located.

It’s exactly what you want for a quick business trip: a big bed, hot shower, quiet nights, and staff who keep things simple and friendly. If you’re in Edinburgh for meetings or a short city break, it’s a safe, easy choice that won’t let you down.

Would I stay again? Definitely – though next time, I’m hoping for a view that’s not the car park!

TL;DR – Know Before You Go

  • Location: West End, Haymarket – close to trams, buses, and city centre
  • Vibe: Relaxed business energy, calm in the evenings
  • Rooms: Comfortable, clean, practical – king beds are worth it
  • Food: Good continental breakfast, bar and restaurant on-site
  • Facilities: Wi-Fi, laundry, bar, restaurant, external gym access
  • Sustainability: Recycling bins and energy-saving touches
  • Price range: Around £100–£180 per night
  • Best for: Business travellers, solo stays, couples on short breaks
  • Downsides: No gym on-site, some rooms face the car park

The Haymarket area itself is getting better every year, with new cafés, bars, and tram routes improving connections. It’s a good time to stay in this part of town if you want convenience without the tourist crowds.
