If you are looking for the best bakery in Zagreb, Bread Club is the one I would send you to first. It is an artisan bakery known for sourdough, pastries, cruffins, pizza slices and seriously dangerous sweet treats, with several locations across the city. I visited Bread Club every day on my Zagreb trip, which tells you everything you need to know.

For a city break, I would stick to the most central branches unless one of the others happens to be near your hotel. The real win is going early, grabbing whatever cruffin looks most dramatic, and pretending you only came in for “one little pastry”.
Is Bread Club the best bakery in Zagreb?
For me, yes. Zagreb has plenty of brilliant bakeries, from classic local chains to polished artisan spots, but Bread Club is the one I still think about months later. It hits that sweet spot between proper bakery craft and travel-day joy: flaky pastries, excellent sourdough, rich cruffins, savoury pizza slices and enough choice to justify a second visit.
If you only have one morning in Zagreb and want a bakery that feels worth going slightly out of your way for, I would make it Bread Club.
That said, this is not a “quiet hidden gem” situation. Bread Club is popular, things can sell out, and the best bits go early. Go in the morning if you want the full experience.
| Zagreb bakery | Best for | My take |
|---|---|---|
| Bread Club | Cruffins, sourdough, pastries, pizza slices | My top pick for the best bakery in Zagreb |
| Korica | Artisan pastries, brunch, coffee | Strong alternative if you want a sit-down bakery-café |
| Dubravica | Quick local bakery bites, sandwiches, pastries | Better for a cheap, easy grab-and-go stop |
Why Bread Club is The Unexpected Must-do Addition for Your Zagreb Itinerary
When we were planning our trip to Zagreb, my sights were firmly set on St Mark’s Church. Finally seeing those bold coloured roof tiles in person was top of my list. But, then I did what I always do before any trip… a little light Googling to scout out where we could get the best pastries in town. Enter: Bread Club.
I stumbled across this review in Time Out, and lots of Google reviews, raving about Bread Club. As it turned out, Bread Club had just opened a second location at the end of the street where our Airbnb was. The stars were aligning! And, of course, anyone who knows me knows two things:
- I’ve got an unhealthy obsession with pastries
- Pistachio crème is BAE right now. (Thank you, TikTok)

So, I tried to stay chill. Not get my hopes up. But, as it turns out Bread Club delivered… and then some…
Bread Club Zagreb locations: which one should you visit?
Bread Club now has multiple locations across Zagreb, so check the latest location list before you go. When I visited, I tried the Britanski trg location and the more sit-down-friendly city locations, and the main thing to know is that not every branch has the same seating set-up.
If you want a quick pastry stop, Britanski trg works well. If you want to linger with coffee, choose one of the larger central locations. Either way, go earlier in the day if you want the best selection, because the good stuff absolutely moves.
What to Order at Bread Club Zagreb
We ended up visiting Bread Club every day of our long weekend in Zagreb. And I am not even sorry about it. Of course, this was all in the name of market research. I couldn’t possibly write this blog without doing some quality control for myself.
After visiting Bread Club every day of our Zagreb trip, these are the pastries and savoury bites I would go back for.
I’m not a big fan of rankings as I find it all quite subjective. BUT if you were to force me to give you my top three?
- The pistachio crème cruffin – sweet, rich, light, and slightly salty. It’s basically the pastry equivalent of falling in love.
- The Tonka crème cruffin – I’d never had Tonka crème before and now I need it in my life permanently. It’s kind of like pistachio’s moody, mysterious cousin. Can we please make this trend so I can buy it in the shops?
- The Marg pizza – do not sleep on this one. It’s proper soft, fluffy dough with a hit of salt and a simple tomato base. A perfect lunchtime vegetarian alternative to all the meat options.

Above: Before we left for the airport, we did one last run to the best bakery Zagreb has to offer. We shared the Pistachio and Tonka cruffins before we said goodbye!

Bread Club: Know before you go
There’s a bit of a difference between the locations, so here’s what you need to know:
- The Bread Club on British Square (Britanski trg) doesn’t have coffee or seating. But the tiny café next door is really chill and friendly and let us eat our pastries on their tables because we got coffee there!
- The other locations are a little more set up for lingering – so if you’re in need of a proper sit down with your pastry and a coffee, hit up one of those.
- Things do sell out. They do keep things well stocked through the day, but don’t rock up at 3pm expecting a full counter – the good stuff moves fast. Get in early for the best picks.

I’m still dreaming about Bread Club…
I know ‘must-visit spots in Zagreb’ gets thrown around a lot, but Bread Club actually earns its place on that list. It’s cool without trying too hard, local but welcoming, and absolutely read the assignment. I came for the church roof tiles and I stayed for the pastries. And, I’d go back to Zagreb purely to eat that pistachio cruffin again in a heartbeat.
