We didn’t plan to stop at Mirador Astronómico de la Degollada de las Yeguas. It wasn’t saved on Google Maps or hyped up beforehand. We were driving back to base on day one of our Gran Canaria road trip when the evening light began doing that very specific glowy thing it does on this beautiful island. You know the one. Softer, warmer, slower. Magical.
The sky suddenly turned golden, the clouds thinned out, and we clocked a mirador just ahead. So we pulled in. And honestly, we’re still talking about it.

When we arrived, a couple were just leaving. For most of the time we were there, we had the mirador completely to ourselves. As we were getting ready to go, another car pulled in, clearly chasing the same sunset we were, but alas, a little late to the party.

Conveniently, I just so happen to be heading back to Gran Canaria, so this might not be my last visit here.
