Where to Stay in Bangkok: Lebua Hotel – The Ultimate in Sky-High Luxury

After a 13-hour train ride to Bangkok that left us looking like we’d rolled down the track ourselves, we stumbled into the Lebua for a breakfast pit stop. We’d spotted that iconic tower from the train, realised it was theHangover hotel,” and thought, why not? We hadn’t sorted a place to stay for the night yet, so between sips of coffee, we cheekily checked Agoda to see what kind of damage a night at Lebua might do to the budget. Luck was on our side – got a cracking deal, and we’d booked before the eggs were even on the table!

Fed, watered, and feeling a bit more human, we headed to reception to officially check in, and that’s when things took a turn for the surreal. In all our travel-worn glory, a golden luggage trolley rolled up to haul our filthy backpacks to the room. We offered to lug them ourselves, but the staff wouldn’t hear of it. Only at Lebua, we thought, feeling like rockstars who had somehow finessed our way into five-star luxury. The danger was we may get used to this type of luxury! 🤣

First Impressions: Checking Into the Sky

Walking into the Lebua is like stepping onto a film set. And not just any set – The Hangover Part II was filmed right here, up on that rooftop bar. So even if you’re not a fan, expect a few déjà vu moments. The lobby itself feels grand, a kind of glitzy oasis from the noise and colour of Bangkok’s streets, and you know right away that you’re in for something special.

The Suites: Room with a View (And Then Some)

Now to the good stuff – the rooms. Staying at Lebua means you’re not just getting a room; you’re getting a suite, with your own private balcony offering insane views of the city and the Chao Phraya River. We’re talking sunsets that’ll have you snapping pics like a paparazzo, and, trust me, this is one spot where you actually don’t want to put your phone down.

Inside, it’s all space and elegance, with plush beds that feel like heaven after a day of Bangkok sightseeing. You can swan around in your robe, coffee in hand, gazing at the skyline, feeling like a proper VIP.

Dining at the Dome: Next-Level Food and Drinks

The Lebua doesn’t just give you a place to lay your head; it serves up some of the city’s best dining experiences too. The Dome is a bit of a food lover’s pilgrimage spot. There’s Sirocco, the world’s highest open-air restaurant, where the view alone is worth the splurge, and Breeze, which serves up pan-Asian delights. You’ll be happily snapping photos between bites (and if you’re the type who Instagrams your food, you’re going to be in heaven).

Then there’s Sky Bar, the rooftop spot where you can sip cocktails with Bangkok glittering below you. But here’s an important PSA: bring a pair of trousers! This plush rooftop has a dress code, and you’ll get the boot if you show up in shorts.

Amenities: Beyond the Usual Luxuries

The pool area feels like an oasis above the chaos of the city – a perfect spot for a morning swim. And if you’re feeling fancy, the spa is there for all the pampering you could need. The hotel gym is fully stocked too, in case you’re planning to keep the holiday indulgences in check (though no judgement if you’re not).

And, of course, there’s Club Tower on the upper floors, which offers exclusive extras like afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Basically, it’s the VIP treatment all the way.

Location: Right in the Heart of Bangkok

Lebua’s location is as good as it gets. Close to the river and right in the thick of things, you’re in easy reach of Bangkok’s main attractions. Grab a tuk-tuk to explore the markets, hop on a boat along the river, and get lost in the vibrant mess that makes Bangkok so charming. And then, when it all gets a bit much, you’ve got a sky-high retreat waiting for you.

So, Is It Worth It?

In a word: absolutely. The Lebua is all about luxury, views, and a good bit of Bangkok magic. Sure, it’s a splurge, but if you’re after an experience that’s more than just a room, this is it. Between the friendly staff, elegant surroundings, and the fact that you can live a day in the life of a film star, it’s worth every baht.

Book yourself in and get ready to see Bangkok from a whole new perspective. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
