We left it until the last minute and nearly missed the sunset slot completely. As a result, we had to enter the park in the 15:00-16:00 slot rather than the 16:00-17:00 slot. Not a deal breaker, and it gave me time to take some nice photos, but still, don’t take the risk.

The queue trundled on, and despite the many sneaky people skipping the queue (yes, we saw you, and yes it was obvious) we enjoyed the craic. We also struck up a conversation with two lovely ladies from Australia who were also travelling South America. So, even though VIP may get you off the mountain faster, you might just miss out on some fun moments with strangers. Bear this in mind when booking!
