Hotel Fenix Torremolinos Review: The Ultimate Adults-Only Coastal Base For Your 2026 Trip
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve landed in Málaga now. Some trips were city breaks with sore feet and late dinners, others were slower, salt-haired weekends where our only plan was to be near the sea. On our most recent visit, I knew exactly what I wanted. No Noise. Adults only. Close to the beach. Easy train access so we could nip into Málaga city and, crucially, somewhere that made an afternoon trip to Los Boliches feel effortless.

Hotel Fenix Torremolinos ticked those boxes, and then went even further by including a spa as the cherry on top! We stayed at Hotel Fenix Torremolinos for three nights in mid December 2025. It was the perfect base for exploring the Costa del Sol and accessing the nearby Christmas festivities at Málaga and Fuengirola. It made for the perfect winter base – especially with the heated outdoor pool.

Hotel Fenix Torremolinos feels smarter than its price tag. Adults only, central without being in the midst of the chaos, and designed for travellers who like things calm, clean and unfussy. The hotel is part of The Palm Experience Hotels group, which has hotels in locations across Spain.
It sits just back from the beach, close enough that you can wander down in flip flops, and super close to Torremolinos train station. That makes day trips easy. Málaga Centro, the airport and stops like Los Boliches and Fuengirola are all straightforward, no taxis or guesswork required. Around the hotel, you’ll find plenty of low-key bars, bakeries and traditional restaurants, especially if you wander a street or two inland.
The vibe is what I’d call bougie on a budget. Rooms range from around €90 to €220 per night depending on season and view. Interiors are sleek and warm. Neutral tones, good lighting, proper blackout curtains. The staff are warm in a genuinely helpful way. We were given local tips without asking and even shared a few laughs en Español.

We had originally booked a standard room but received an upgrade to a junior suite which was really appreciated. The extra space came in handy and the double balcony was a vibe. I can see myself returning to Hotel Fenix in the summer for that sun trap at room 411!
There’s a heated outdoor pool in the hotel, which came into its own on those colder winter days, and a small but well-equipped fitness centre. Not a hardcore gym, but enough to undo a few too many churros.
Rooms, comfort and little details at Hotel Fenix
Our room was spotless, spacious and super comfortable. The bed was firm enough to allow us to sleep well, and the shower pressure passed the post-travel test.
The bathroom had lovely touches including soaps and shampoos by Hebe’s Bliss. They smelled fantastic. There were also vanity packs, shoe cleaners and fresh fluffy towels.
In the room, there was a decent TV with lots of channels, a kettle and decent tea and coffee caddy. The balcony had a large table and chairs for four, and two sun loungers. We obviously didn’t use the loungers on this mid-December trip, but I’m already threatening to return and make use of that beautiful suntrap!
One thing I appreciated was how calm it felt at night. Despite the central location, noise never travelled through our room. Mornings at Hotel Fenix are chill, with the only drama being the typical late scramble to make it to breakfast before it finished.

Breakfast at Hotel Fenix Torremolinos can only be described as a proper event, not an afterthought.
Every morning there was fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries still warm in the middle, local cured meats and cheeses, eggs cooked to order, and strong coffee that made sure you were awake and ready for the day ahead. I fell into a routine of toast, fruit, yoghurt, coffee, then a second coffee I didn’t need but absolutely wanted.
It’s relaxed. No long queues. You can sit and read or people-watch without feeling like you’re in the way. For a long weekend, it sets the tone for the day nicely.

Hotel Fenix Spa facilities and downtime
The on-site spa is small but thoughtfully done. Guests have access to a jacuzzi, steam vapour room and sauna. After a day of walking Málaga’s streets or a long beach afternoon, it felt like a reset button.
It’s not a full wellness retreat, but for a city-coast hybrid break, it’s exactly enough. Quiet, clean and completely ours for the time we were there.
Rooftop and terrace vibes at Hotel Fenix Torremolinos
The rooftop is where Hotel Fenix really earns its keep.
The views stretch out over Torremolinos towards the sea, with the view of the waves crashing into the coast. Late afternoon was my favourite time up here. The sun drops low, the light softens, and the city lights up to welcome the evening in.
One evening we brought our aperitivo drinks outside and watched the sky shift colour. It felt grown-up in the best way. Calm, unpretentious, and just a little bit indulgent.
If you’re expecting a party rooftop, this isn’t it. If you want to stay somewhere that you can actually relax, read, swim and feel a bit smug about your hotel choice, you’ll get it at Hotel Fenix.
Aperitivo hour and small touches
Upon check-in, we were handed a voucher for aperitivo hour. Each guest received a small snack and a drink in the early evening. Nothing extravagant, but a really nice touch.
We took our drinks outside and watched the city from above. It felt social without being forced, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.

Adults only makes a difference. The entire hotel feels calmer for it. Mornings are unhurried. Evenings are civilised. There’s a steady hum of people enjoying themselves without it being too extra.
The interiors lean modern and warm. Clean lines, neutral colours, good lighting. It feels well maintained and not overtly flashy. Housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive, and reception staff were consistently friendly and helpful.
Location-wise, it’s hard to beat if you don’t want a car. The train station is a few minutes walk away, which makes trips to Málaga Centro, the airport or along the coast genuinely easy. We hopped to Fuengirola for a stroll to Los Boliches and were back in time for a sunset aperitivo. The beach is a short walk away, and you’re surrounded by casual places to eat and drink without being stuck in the loudest strip.
The rooms at Hotel Fenix Torremolinos are comfortable and well thought out. Good storage, strong shower, and a decent tea and coffee set-up. Exploring Torremolinos town on foot
Torremolinos has a reputation that doesn’t quite match the reality anymore. Yes, it’s busy in parts, but there are layers to it if you slow down.
The old town around Calle San Miguel still carries traces of its fishing village past, even if it’s now lined with shops and cafés. A short walk takes you to El Bajondillo beach, one of the most convenient stretches of sand in the area.
For views, head towards the clifftop paths near the town centre. The best sunset spot outside the hotel we found was slightly away from the main promenade, where the crowds thin and the sky does most of the talking.
Don’t skip Los Boliches. We hopped on the train one afternoon and wandered. Less polished, more local, and full of places where lunch turns into coffee turns into another hour gone.
